All patients at Great Western Surgery have a named, accountable doctor, allocated to you by the practice, who is responsible for coordinating your care. The role of the named GP is to oversee and co-ordinate your care. However, this does not mean they are the only GP or clinician who will provide care for you; nor that they will be available throughout the working week or have 24 hour responsibility for you. It also does not include vicarious liability for the work of other doctors or health care professionals. The overall responsibility for patient care remains practice based.
